For most of human history, a man's job was to determine by their father's occupation. But with a growing industrial economy, many farmhands saw an opportunity for change. A better life for their children. This desire was not isolated to only Americans, but to foreigners overseas as well. Companies would go and recruit whoever they could. Birthing the American slogan, " The land of opportunity." or " The land of second chances." Unlike their American counterparts, these immigrants weren't simply leaving a family farm, but rather their homeland and with it their culture.
By 1900, U.S. cities were home to 15 million people, and between the years 1880-1900 townships in America lost roughly 40 percent of their population. Now, families who use to work together on their land were atomized. Dad went to the local factory while his children and wife did the same. Their lives were a constant struggle of finding food and making ends meet. Some families couldn't stand the pressure of raising children in such conditions and let them go.
Fast forward to today and we see this has created a citizenry with no roots. More people live in cities with thousands if not millions of strangers. Yet, they lack a sense of community. Therefore, they require the government and media to standardize behavior so they belong to something. This is a big reason why Americans are having fewer kids. They are unable to make deep meaningful connections because of their artifical communities. People pretend to be authentic but share the same opinions as their peers for fear of isolation.
The time is now! Have big families, return to the farm, and build real communities. America depends on it.
